About The Position

GDIT's Summer Internship Program is a 10-week program designed to provide interns with the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team, helping to solve clients' challenging matters. Interns will work alongside GDIT professionals, collaborate with peers on business challenges, participate in mentoring circles, interact with GDIT leaders, and engage in professional development. The Cybersecurity Summer Internship specifically focuses on ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems for GDIT or client organizations. Interns are expected to have knowledge of computer languages and an interest in evaluating information systems security features. They will work with analysts to understand business processes, promote data integrity, develop consulting skills, gather and research data, perform analysis, and contribute to deliverables.

Intuitiveness with an ability to identify and solve complex problems related to rapidly changing technology
Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)
Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in computer science, IT, engineering, or other STEM field from a United States-based college or university
Minimum of one semester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes

Nice To Haves

Pursuing a certification in the field of cyber security (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, Information Assurance, or Certified Ethical Hacker)
Basic knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in engineering, information systems, and related technical support
Basic knowledge of related hardware and software
Basic understanding of data manipulation of Indicators of Compromise (IOC’s)
Basic understanding of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
Basic understanding of Vulnerability Management (Vulnerability Scanning and Patching)
Basic understanding of Information Assurance

Responsibilities

Work side-by-side with GDIT professionals delivering work for clients
Collaborate with a team of peers to research and propose solutions to a current business challenge
Participate in a mentoring circle led by an early career champion
Interact with GDIT leaders
Participate in professional development
Help ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all data and systems across GDIT or client organizations
