About The Position

The Cyber Systems Security Engineer Sr will be responsible for working with the team of fellow engineers in the designing, assembly, integration, and maintenance of a like family of different Command and Control (C2) System of Systems. This includes network planning, hardware installation, software integration support, verification, and validation of system functionality. In addition to designing and building the systems, the applicant will be responsible for ensuring the system is NIST/RMF/JSIG compliant and assist in the submitting of an ATO package. They will be involved in solving complex problems associated with both the hardware and software systems. Work will also include modification, and maintenance of system drawings (network architecture, layout, cable drawings, rack drawings).

Requirements

  • Proven experience with enterprise‑grade security platforms.
  • Strong background in operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux distributions (RHEL)
  • Hands‑on expertise with VMware virtualization technologies.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, particularly routing and switching protocols and architectures
  • Demonstrated ability to perform system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and security configuration management
  • Experience providing end‑user support and responding to security incidents
  • Willingness and availability to provide after‑hours or on‑call support as needed.
  • Holds an active Secret clearance (investigation or CV ≤ 5 years) and is eligible to obtain a Top‑Secret clearance.
  • DOD 8570 certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CASP, CISSP or CCNP-Security.

Nice To Haves

  • Capable of completing any additional enhanced security reviews required by government contracts; must acquire and maintain all necessary program clearances within a timeframe that satisfies Lockheed Martin’s operational needs.
  • Proficient with enterprise security and network‑monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Trellix ePO, ACAS/Tenable.sc, Tanium, Microsoft Sentinel) to detect, respond to, mitigate, and report cyber incidents.
  • ≥ 5 years experience administering Windows operating systems (Server 2016/2019, Windows 10/11, etc.) and Linux platforms (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, IBM/AIX, etc.).
  • Hands‑on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Horizon, vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and Hyper‑V.
  • Strong understanding of routing and switching protocols and overall network architecture.
  • Experience in vulnerability remediation and security management, including system hardening, log management, and configuration control using tools like Nessus, McAfee, WSUS, Shavlik, Blade Logic, Splunk, ACAS, SCAP, and HBSS.
  • Ability to move, rack, stack, and install hardware (lifting capacity up to 30 lb).
  • Familiarity with core infrastructure services: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and WSUS.
  • Proven track record installing software, providing technical support, and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Experience delivering end‑user support and performing incident‑response activities.
  • Willingness and availability to provide after‑hours or on‑call support as required.
  • Knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) hardening and compliance frameworks (e.g., STIG, DSS), including related documentation.
  • Experience with NAS, SAN, and PFS storage systems and their associated networking.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement network architectures with deep expertise in routing and switching concepts.
  • Scripting skills to automate system administration tasks (Ansible, Python, Bash, Perl, Batch, VBScript, PowerShell, etc.).
  • Experience with environment‑management solutions (Splunk, McAfee ePO, vSphere, Azure, etc.).
  • Hands‑on experience in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
  • Understanding of SQL or other database technologies and the ability to work with them.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage system integration, test and troubleshooting of various hardware/software configurations
  • Installing, and managing of equipment in server racks and updating the inventory
  • Establish Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL)/Closed-Loop development and testing with the Integration team
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings, interface with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.
  • Integrating hardware from sub-system teams, interface with other elements, and the system and segment level teams
  • Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
