About The Position

CNO Financial Group, Inc. is seeking a Cyber Security Intern to work alongside experienced Cyber Security associates, assisting with professional Cyber Security day-to-day work. The intern will gain exposure to enterprise cybersecurity operations and Security Operations Center functions, receive hands-on experience with industry-leading security tools and technologies, and be mentored by experienced cybersecurity professionals. The role involves practical experience supporting incident response and threat detection activities, with opportunities to develop technical, analytical, and professional skills in a collaborative enterprise IT environment. The internship program runs from May 17 through August 06, 2027, and includes networking events, leader talks, career counseling, development opportunities, insurance product and industry presentations, an in-person event at a corporate office, final presentations, and a volunteering event. Interns are eligible for paid time to engage in Business Resource Group events, the CNO Employee Assistance Program (EAP), onsite fitness centers, the Active & Fit Direct national fitness center discount program, Marathon Health webinars, and a free code for the Monumental Marathon entry.

Requirements

  • Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline.
  • Status as a rising junior or rising senior, approx. graduation dates of December 2027-June 2029.
  • Availability to work 40 hrs/week for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
  • Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours.
  • Basic understanding of information technology concepts, including networking and operating systems.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze information and identify patterns or anomalies.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • The Company does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to this position or future full-time employment opportunities.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship, work experience, or academic projects related to cybersecurity or information technology.
  • Familiarity with security concepts such as phishing, malware, endpoint security, authentication, and network security.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python or PowerShell.
  • Participation in cybersecurity clubs, competitions, labs, or Capture-the-Flag (CTF) activities.
  • Pursuit of entry-level cybersecurity certifications such as CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC, or similar.
  • Balancing education and a part-time job during the school year.

Responsibilities
