About The Position

The Assistant Director is a high-impact executive role within the Arizona Department of Homeland Security, Statewide Information Security and Privacy Office (SISPO). Serving as a key strategic partner to the Deputy Director of the SISPO, this position will assist in leading the day-to-day implementation and operational execution of Arizona's cybersecurity mission. This position ensures the protection of the state's digital and critical infrastructure from cyber attacks by overseeing the integrated efforts of security operations, engineering, risk management, and program support.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance up to at least SECRET.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field
  • Required to drive on State business; must possess a valid Arizona driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive level oversight for the program portfolio of the office, ensuring that statewide cybersecurity programs are measured and monitored against key performance indicators and projects and services are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with Department and state strategic goals.
  • Organize, direct, mentor and guide the program support staff to refine workflows and standard work, manage dependencies, deconflict resources, ensure financial analysis and fiscal health with the Finance and Budget team.
  • Supports vendor and other key external program cross- team collaboration, and communicate milestones to executive stakeholders.
  • Oversee program budgets, coordinating finantial analysis and fiscal health with the Finance and Budget Team.
  • Supports vendor and other key external program stakeholder relationships
  • Act as the primary delegate for the Deputy Director when necessary in high-level internal and inter-agency briefings when the Deputy Director is unavailable.
  • Participate in the development and help lead the implementation of the Statewide Cybersecurity Strategy and ensure operational alignment across all teams, agencies, and stakeholders
  • Synchronize the activities of the primary functions of the Statewide Information Security and Privacy Office (SISPO) and provide operational day-to-day leadership
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position
