About The Position

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Cyber Infrastructure Engineer to work onsite in Largo, FL. This role involves supporting the management and maintenance of VMware virtual infrastructure within a secure datacenter environment. The engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, and integrating servers, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring DISA STIG compliance. The position requires supporting security compliance efforts, vulnerability remediation, and accreditation activities. As an entry-level professional, the role involves applying theoretical knowledge to solve technical problems under moderate supervision and collaborating with team members.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of virtualization, networking, and secure system administration principles.
  • Experience supporting VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter, virtual machines, and virtual networking).
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address moderately complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision while contributing to a collaborative technical team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence teammates through explanation of technical concepts, policies, and operational practices.
  • Must be able to possess a DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent) within six month of hire.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience may be obtained through on the job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • Active and existing TS/SCI security clearance required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting datacenter infrastructure, including power and cooling considerations.
  • Experience with Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy).
  • Familiarity with Linux administration and Bash scripting.
  • Understanding of network engineering fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, and subnetting.
  • Experience supporting security compliance and remediation activities within controlled environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to shifting priorities and operational requirements in a mission-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management and maintenance of VMware virtual infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and vCenter, within a secure datacenter environment.
  • Install, configure, and integrate servers supporting virtualized infrastructure and enterprise services.
  • Monitor system performance and availability while troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues involving virtualization, networking, and operating systems.
  • Implement and maintain DISA STIG compliance for ESXi, virtual machines, and management platforms.
  • Perform system maintenance, backups, and patching according to established operational procedures (may require off-hours support).
  • Configure and support virtual networking and highly available server clusters within a vSphere environment.
  • Coordinate with facilities, engineering, and security teams regarding datacenter operations such as power and cooling requirements.
  • Document system configurations, changes, and operational procedures in accordance with program standards.
  • Support security compliance efforts, vulnerability remediation, and accreditation activities.
  • Contribute as an entry-level professional team member, applying theoretical knowledge to solve technical problems while working under moderate supervision and collaborating with team members.
