About The Position

Peraton seeks a Cyber Data Capabilities Developer to support DCDC by developing, testing, and maintaining software capabilities for big data processing and cyberspace data analysis. The role is based in Fort Meade, Maryland, and involves turning cyberspace operations telemetry into analytic outputs. The developer designs and deploys software applications, analytic services, reusable libraries, and analytic pipelines for operational data. The work includes developing batch and streaming data-processing functions; designing and integrating APIs, microservices, data interfaces, and event-driven services; and producing software designs, API specifications, data schemas, and interface documentation. The position also involves maintaining Git-based repositories and collaborative development artifacts, conducting code reviews, documenting tests and code scans, and improving the performance, reliability, fault tolerance, observability, and recoverability of systems working with high-volume datasets.

  • Minimum experience: 8 years with a bachelor’s degree, 6 years with a master’s degree, 3 years with a Ph.D., 12 years with a high school diploma, or 14 years with an associate degree.
  • Demonstrated proficiency writing production code in at least two programming languages, including Python or another language suited to data processing.
  • Demonstrated SQL proficiency.
  • Experience with Git-based distributed version control and collaborative development workflows, with ability to work in GitLab or an equivalent platform.
  • Experience with software architecture, data structures, algorithms, debugging, automated testing, code review, and secure software development.
  • Experience developing or integrating software for large datasets, distributed processing, databases, data pipelines, APIs, or streaming systems.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, network and host telemetry, security events, cyber threats, and the operational context of defensive and offensive cyberspace missions.
  • Ability to meet applicable DoD 8140 work-role qualification requirements; primary alignment is DoD Cyber Workforce Framework Software Developer (621).
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Active TS clearance with ability to obtain and maintain SCI.

  • Hands-on development with Scala, R, Julia, C++, Go, Rust, Java, TypeScript, C#, or other compiled, interpreted, systems, and analytical languages.
  • Knowledge and skill in Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, Hadoop, distributed SQL engines, graph databases, columnar data formats, and high-volume event processing.
  • Proficiency working with cloud and container platforms, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, GitLab CI/CD, automated deployment, and DevSecOps workflows.
  • Familiarity with statistical computing, machine learning, model integration, feature engineering, graph algorithms, or AI-assisted development with validation and human review.
  • Proficiency in data quality controls, schema evolution, telemetry provenance, time-series analysis, and performance tuning for large cyber datasets.
  • Experience with the JCWA Common Runtime Stack for Data (JCRS-D), Caspian, or comparable DoW cyber data environments.
