  • Professional software development experience, including responsibility for designing, delivering, and maintaining production software.
  • Production coding proficiency in at least two programming languages, including Python or another language suited to data processing, plus demonstrated SQL proficiency.
  • Experience with Git-based distributed version control and collaborative development workflows, using GitLab or an equivalent platform.
  • Experience with software architecture, data structures, algorithms, debugging, automated testing, code review, and secure software development.
  • Experience developing or integrating software for large datasets, distributed processing, databases, data pipelines, APIs, or streaming systems.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, network and host telemetry, security events, cyber threats, and the operational context of defensive and offensive cyberspace missions.
  • Ability to meet applicable DoD 8140 work-role qualification requirements; primary alignment is DoD Cyber Workforce Framework Software Developer (621).

  • Knowledge of Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, Hadoop, distributed SQL engines, graph databases, columnar data formats, and high-volume event processing.
  • Experience with cloud and container platforms, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, GitLab CI/CD, automated deployment, and DevSecOps workflows.
  • Familiarity with statistical computing, machine learning, model integration, feature engineering, graph algorithms, or AI-assisted development with validation and human review.
  • Proficiency in data quality controls, schema evolution, telemetry provenance, time-series analysis, and performance tuning for large cyber datasets.
  • Experience with the JCWA Common Runtime Stack for Data (JCRS-D), Caspian, or comparable DoW cyber data environments.
  • Technical leadership in Agile teams and experience supporting Joint, Service, DoD, or Cyber Mission Force organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy software applications, analytic services, reusable libraries, and analytic pipelines for operational data.
  • Refactor and optimize code in languages such as Python, SQL, Scala, R, Julia, C, C++, Go, Rust, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Develop batch and streaming data ingestion, parsing, normalization, enrichment, correlation, indexing, and query functions.
  • Design and integrate APIs, microservices, data interfaces, and event-driven services; produce software designs, API specifications, data schemas, and interface documentation.
  • Use Git-based distributed version control and maintain GitLab repositories, merge requests, code-review records, and release artifacts.
  • Conduct code reviews and document automated tests, test results, code scans, defect remediation, and performance benchmarks.
