About The Position

Zurich North America is seeking a Cyber and Technology E&O Underwriter for its Middle Market segment. This role, reporting to the Head of Middle Markets within the Professional Liability & Cyber Business Unit, is responsible for achieving key performance metrics to drive profitability, shifting portfolio mix, identifying operational efficiencies, and developing and executing a go-to-market strategy for new business and renewal retention. The Middle Market Professional Liability & Cyber Business Unit manages growth and placement for Cyber, Technology E&O, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Manufacturers E&O, and Employed Lawyers coverage for customers with up to $750M in revenue. While based in Atlanta, the position offers a hybrid work arrangement with flexibility to set a schedule that supports the employee, customers, and brokers/agents. The role requires market visibility, with an expectation of being in the office or market three days per week. This role will be filled at either the Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level, determined by the selected applicant's experience and skill set.

Requirements

  • Underwriting Specialist Required Qualification: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims, Underwriting Support area OR Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience working in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of Cyber, Technology E&O, Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Manufacturers E&O, and Employed Lawyers policies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies and initiatives.
  • Actively pursue new business opportunities and work to expand Zurich’s portfolio.
  • Comply with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules.
  • Continuously monitor and assess emerging Cyber and Technology E&O trends—including threat vectors, claims patterns, legal/regulatory developments, and coverage evolution—and translate those insights into disciplined risk selection, pricing, and portfolio strategy.
  • Manage and optimize portfolio performance, balancing growth, profitability, and risk selection in alignment with underwriting strategy.
  • Develop deep expertise in Zurich’s Cyber and Professional Liability products and policy forms, and confidently communicate coverage positions, changes, and underwriting appetite to brokers to support deal execution and relationship development.
  • Understand client needs and priorities and work collaboratively with brokers to develop solutions that create value for customers while maintaining underwriting discipline.
