Cx, QA, & Field Engineer, Electrical

Fluidstack•Austin, TX
•$199,000 - $247,000

About The Position

Fluidstack is hiring an electrical commissioning, quality assurance, and field engineer for its Commissioning Team. The team is building a commissioning program to support tens to hundreds of gigawatts of capacity this decade, commissioning and performing QA-QC for first-of-a-kind modular data centers, and automating Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning. The role covers commissioning electrical distribution from the utility interface to the rack, including switchgear, UPS, generators, and EPMS, from Level 2 through Level 5. The engineer will develop and execute testing that verifies system protection, transfer schemes, failure scenarios, and performance at full load, and will validate vendor and NETA test results. The position also involves integrated systems testing to demonstrate that a site responds to utility events as specified by its design.

Requirements

  • Experience commissioning electrical systems in mission-critical facilities, including pull-the-plug testing.
  • Ability to read one-lines, protection studies, and coordination curves and identify errors.
  • Experience running load bank testing at megawatt scale.
  • Ability to hold vendors to test standards under schedule pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medium-voltage and high-voltage systems.
  • Experience with EPMS platforms.
  • Protective relay testing experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Responsibilities

  • Commission electrical distribution from the utility interface to the rack, including switchgear, UPS, generators, and EPMS, from Level 2 through Level 5.
  • Write and execute test scripts covering protection, transfer schemes, and failure scenarios at full load.
  • Oversee NETA testing and vendor startups, verifying results rather than merely filing them.
  • Run integrated systems tests to prove the site rides through utility events as designed.
