About The Position

An award-winning tertiary and quaternary care medical center is seeking an experienced CVICU Nurse Manager to lead a high-acuity Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. This leadership opportunity oversees a 19-bed CVICU supported by a team of approximately 65 clinical professionals and nationally recognized cardiovascular physicians. The Nurse Manager will provide operational, clinical, financial, and people leadership while promoting evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, staff engagement, and exceptional patient care. This role is ideal for a cardiovascular nursing leader with a strong post-cardiothoracic background who is passionate about developing teams and driving clinical excellence.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BSN or equivalent educational preparation (ADN with MSN or BA with MSN)
  • BLS Healthcare Provider certification
  • Minimum 5 years of recent nursing experience
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant cardiovascular hospital experience with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Manager, or other formal leadership experience
  • Strong post-cardiothoracic clinical background
  • Ability to obtain specialty or leadership certification within one year of assuming the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of a 19-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of approximately 65 clinical staff members.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular critical care.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with executive and nursing leadership on strategic initiatives and operational planning.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes, patient safety metrics, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, and professional development of nursing staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Participate in budgeting, financial management, and departmental performance improvement efforts.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and professional practice standards.
