CV Invasive Specialist in Training PRN
About The Position
The CV Invasive Specialist in Training performs duties necessary to support cardiac catheterization procedures while completing training. Work is performed at a technical and professional level under proctoring and supervision, with supervised judgment and responsibility for assigned areas and procedures under the direction of an assigned mentor. The role follows the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals Scope of Practice. An RN is present to supervise patient care during moderate sedation. The position is based at Intermountain Health St. Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings, Montana. The facility includes two catheterization laboratories, an electrophysiology laboratory, a vascular suite, and a hybrid operating room. Its procedures include cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology procedures, structural heart interventions, and vascular procedures. The team uses Philips imaging systems, GE Mac-Lab hemodynamic monitoring systems, Acist contrast injection devices, and other specialized cardiovascular technologies. Procedures are performed by interdisciplinary teams, with documentation managed through Epic and Mac-Lab systems. Sedation may be RN-led conscious sedation or anesthesia, as appropriate. This is a PRN, as-needed position with zero scheduled weekly hours. The listed hourly pay range is $29.43–$45.39, with the actual rate dependent on experience.
Requirements
- Current applicable license or certification in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before working on-call.
- Demonstrated relevant clinical experience, which may include work as an LPN, Respiratory Therapist, EKG technician, or Radiology Technician.
Responsibilities
- Participate in procedure-room preparation, post-procedure turnaround, and inventory control.
- Develop patient assessment and monitoring skills and inform the physician of deviations from normal criteria during procedures.
- Develop knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and treatment options.
- Develop knowledge of invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, including their indications, applications, and proper use and deployment.
- Develop an understanding of and begin providing procedural assistance as a circulating, scrub, or monitoring technologist, in accordance with cath lab policies and procedures and Scope of Practice documents.
- Develop an understanding of x-ray generation and safety and the operation of imaging equipment.
- Make hemodynamic recordings, calculations, and interpretations.
- Provide patient education and emotional support to patients and family members as needed.
- Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events.
- Develop skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
