About The Position

This role involves providing specialized patient care in the cardiac catherization/electrophysiology lab surgical setting. The CV/EP-critical care staff nurse utilizes the nursing process and scientific principles to deliver safe, high-quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures. This includes managing emergent and complex clinical situations, preparing and monitoring patients during procedures, maintaining a safe environment, optimizing outcomes, and advocating for patient and family needs. Vaccination for seasonal influenza is a condition of employment, and new employees must be willing to be vaccinated for measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox, and have evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis vaccination. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree ADN Required
  • Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role.
  • 1-2 years experience or Bachelor's Degree BSN preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
  • No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
  • One of the following required upon hire: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, Licensed RN - KS, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • MO or KS Multistate License required within 90 days of hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty Nursing Certification encouraged for all eligible nurses Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate nursing care for patients undergoing Level 0 to 6 cardiac catherization/electrophysiology lab surgical procedures in the hospital setting, including managing emergent, complex clinical situations appropriately.
  • Meets the educational and informational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
  • Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family centered during the perioperative encounter.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
