About The Position

This role operates a cutting machine with plasma or flame and bevels the sides of steel plates using a beveling machine. This is the first step in building a tower section for wind tower fabrication. The position is for a day shift.

Requirements

• Must have the ability to wear a tight-fitting respirator
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders; work at heights
• Must be able to lift and carry between 30-50 lbs
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, twist, reach
• Must be able to work above shoulders
• Position is required to operate an overhead crane. Vision must be correctable to 20/20, including peripheral and accurate perception of depth in order to fully view the crane while in operation and to ensure safe handling.
• Tolerate exposure to weather, hot/cold environments

Responsibilities

• Operate a cutting machine (plasma cutting table)
• Bevel all sides of steel plates using the beveling machine
• Position steel plates on the cutting table using the vacuum plate lifter
• Safely operate the overhead crane
• Remove scrap from the plates
• Grind the plates as needed
• Verify thickness, dimensions and quality of steel plate surface
• Record information on the follow-up files
• Perform all other duties as assigned to help out the crew
