About The Position

FlexStaff is hiring a full-time Cutter Grinder to join a client’s team in Bohemia, New York. The position ensures the accuracy and effectiveness of cutting tools, optimizes tool performance, and contributes to manufacturing process efficiency. The listed pay is $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on experience. The schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong technical skills and expertise in operating cutter grinding machines, using grinding techniques, and performing tool maintenance.
• Experience with cutter grinding techniques, blueprint reading, tooling, problem solving, safety awareness, communication, and attention to detail.
• Ability to set up cutter grinding machines, select appropriate grinding wheels, adjust machine controls, and secure cutting tools for precise grinding.

Responsibilities

• Operate cutter grinding machines to sharpen and recondition cutting tools, including end mills, drills, reamers, and inserts, according to specifications and work orders.
• Set up grinding machines by selecting grinding wheels, adjusting machine settings, and securing cutting tools.
• Interpret tooling specifications, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine grinding requirements, including angles, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Inspect and measure cutting tools for wear, damage, and accuracy using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
• Adjust grinding parameters, including wheel speed, feed rate, and depth of cut, to achieve the required tool geometry and surface finish.
• Perform routine grinding machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and wheel dressing.
• Collaborate with tool designers, engineers, and production personnel to troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend improvements or modifications.
• Document grinding parameters, tool measurements, and inspection results to maintain accurate records and traceability.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
