About The Position

Maintains product levels and quality control in the produce department. Ensures fresh fruits and vegetables are displayed in accordance with Company standards and all regulatory food safety practices. Promotes customer service and sales building practices.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment under supervision.
  • Ability to handle objects carefully to avoid damage to items, people, vehicles, and property.
  • Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc. under supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes using a variety of educational resources.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.
  • Minimum of 16 years of age required.
  • Must be 18 years of age to operate or clean motorized equipment.
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
  • Food Handler certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains full stock conditions on produce display racks, tables, and shelves.
  • Safely prepares fresh cut fruit for packaging, trays and juices.
  • Slices, weighs, packages, and labels product under supervision.
  • Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.
  • Inspects product for quality and maintains quality control and food safety standards.
  • Uses sharp tools for cutting fruit.
  • Cuts and trims product to ensure high quality presentation and appearance after completing proper training.
  • Takes precautionary safety measures when using equipment and work tools.
  • Cleans, assembles, and prepares equipment for operation, and examines to check working order under supervision.
  • Operates pallet jack to unload product from warehouse trucks and reloads trucks with return items.
  • Ensures dated product is stocked, rotated, or discarded properly if unsold.
  • Collects empty cardboard boxes and other trash and places into bailer.
  • Assists fellow partners and customers by responding to price check questions and exchanging and/or locating product.
  • Provides friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.
  • Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Practices high sanitary standards for handling raw and uncooked food products.
