Produce Fruit Cut Specialist (Part Time, Day Shifts)

About The Position

The Cut Produce Specialist provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for.   This means fulfilling customer requests, keeping the cut fruit and vegetable displays stocked and rotated, keeping the department clean, and being the final line for quality control in the department.

Requirements

  • Be food safety certified
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Communicate clearly with customers and co-workers
  • Employees are our internal customers; treat them with the same courtesy and respect as our external customers
  • Must work efficiently and at a productive pace per department needs
  • Must be able to work scheduled shift
  • Follow all department safety policies and procedures
  • Be able to concentrate on task at hand in order to avoid injury and waste of product
  • Be knowledgeable about Adam product – recommend ideas to customers by exploring customer preferences and advocating Adams product
  • Consistently lift and move 50 pounds
  • Stand for the duration of the shift
  • Climb up and down a stepstool, stepladder, and ladder
  • Use hands, wrists, fingers and arms for duration of shift
  • Safely operate and use knives, buffalo chopper, and other equipment necessary to run the department
  • Use the compactor and cardboard crusher for disposing of garbage and recycling

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service
  • Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams
  • Order supplies needed for packing out cut fruits and vegetables
  • Communicate with manager to ensure enough produce is ordered for the cut fruit & veggie program
  • Prepare all ready to go items
  • Prepare products for sales floor, including packing out, weighing and pricing all items
  • Keep a runner list to track how many of each product are needed on a daily basis
  • Stock and rotate cut fruits and vegetables
  • Demonstrate knowledge of product in order to assist customers and help associates; be aware of sale items and pricing
  • Maintain proper levels of stock throughout the department to ensure freshness, quality and availability
  • Rotate all products to ensure freshness and all times
  • Keep cut fruit and vegetable cases and displays full and organized with correct signage
  • Rotate products to keep older product in front and stock cases and displays, making sure product is correctly labeled and there are no empty spaces
  • Regularly check all products for quality
  • Receive and put away deliveries; check products arriving for quality
  • Take customer orders both in person and on the phone
  • Be the final line for quality control: look for packaging issues, sell-by dates, and be vigilant about quality and presentation of all products put out for sale
  • Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, cases, coolers, preparation and production areas
  • When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand
