About The Position

The Customs Compliance Coordinator will work with Customs Regulatory Compliance Analysts to develop client-specific procedures, especially for onboarding new clients. This role is responsible for compliance activities including classification of merchandise for HTS, Schedule B, and ECCN research. The position also involves post-entry functions such as applying for tariff concessions, refunds, duty drawbacks, and credits, as well as resolving issues with customs and other government agencies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent client service skills, the ability to acquire extensive knowledge, and communicate complex CBP requirements effectively to importers. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions based on regulatory interpretation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience and working knowledge of customs and brokerage entry processing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience relative to trade compliance.
  • Must be bilingual.
  • Expert/Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with legal counsel representing a governmental agency.
  • Highly motivated and energetic with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced and continually changing environment.
  • Must be able to work with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.
  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 10% of the time) to multiple client locations.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative and adaptability.
  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computer equipment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • CUSECO certification is preferred.
  • Professional certification may be required in some areas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop client-specific procedures, particularly for onboarding new clients.
  • Perform classification of merchandise for HTS, Schedule B, and ECCN research.

  • Resolve issues involving customs and other government agencies.

  • Make decisions and advise clients on established processes and procedures per regulatory interpretation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
