About The Position

The Customs and Transportation Specialist at Prinoth USA – Snow Groomers is responsible for ensuring full compliance with U.S. and Canadian customs regulations while managing and optimizing transportation and logistics operations for spare parts, vehicles, and accessories. This role plays a critical part in cross-border trade compliance, carrier and broker management, freight cost control, and logistics system oversight. The position supports efficient, compliant, and cost-effective import/export activities while contributing to data accuracy, process optimization, and informed logistics decision-making.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Logistics, Transportation, International Trade, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–10 years of experience in customs compliance and transportation/logistics, preferably in heavy equipment, automotive, or similar industries
  • Strong expertise in U.S. and Canadian customs regulations, including tariff classification, CF28/CF29, and trade agreements (USMCA, CETA)
  • Proven experience managing transportation operations, carriers, brokers, and freight forwarders
  • Knowledge of freight cost structures, KPIs, and transportation financial controls
  • Experience with SAP and/or TMS platforms
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with U.S. and Canadian customs laws and applicable international trade regulations related to accessories, vehicles and parts.
  • Maintain and monitor customs-related databases (SAP or equivalent), including tariff classification and regulatory data.
  • Determine and validate tariff classifications (HTS codes) for parts, accessories, and vehicles.
  • Prepare, review, and manage customs documentation and declarations.
  • Administer Certificates of Origin (USMCA, CETA), including application, validation, and maintenance.
  • Manage customs claims, such as duty drawback and post-entry adjustments.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits and support external audits.
  • Manage carrier relationships, including selection, performance evaluation, and contract compliance.
  • Support carrier negotiations and maintain strong operational partnerships.
  • Oversee transportation activities for domestic and international shipments.
  • Investigate and resolve carrier claims, including lost or damaged shipments (packages/pallets).
  • Manage freight cost monitoring and reporting, including KPIs, carrier performance, and fuel surcharge analysis.
  • Review and codify transportation invoices for accuracy and cost control.
  • Partner with customs brokers to ensure compliant and efficient clearance processes.
  • Manage broker performance and ensure adherence to service expectations.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers.
  • Support Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and ERP platforms (SAP, ShipERP), including user training and support, system maintenance and data accuracy, business communication and process alignment, and backup support and help desk coordination.
  • Generate logistics, trade compliance, and cost analysis reports.
  • Support internal teams with import/export guidance and issue resolution.
  • Prepare export documentation, including commercial invoices and regulatory filings (e.g., CERS).
  • Identify risks and recommend solutions to minimize delays, costs, or compliance exposure.
