About The Position

Hy-Vee is hiring a Customer Service team member to support customers with a range of in-store services, including mailing packages, sending money, cashing checks, and purchasing licenses. The role involves processing transactions accurately and efficiently while providing welcoming, professional customer service. It is a fast-paced retail store position that requires teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines. Night and weekend shifts are required. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in varied situations with limited standardization.
Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages accurately.
Ability to file, post, and organize materials, copy data accurately between records, and gather basic information.
Ability to guide customers and provide clear, helpful direction professionally.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, team members, and store leadership.
Night and weekend shifts required.

Nice To Haves

Over six months up to one year of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service, making each interaction positive.
Weigh postal packages, run mail through meters, and process certified, express, UPS, registered, and insured mail.
Process Western Union orders and send customer faxes.
Sell money orders and cash payroll, personal, ADC, and Social Security checks.
Sell hunting and fishing licenses.
Break down and put money in utility drawers and process paid outs.
Sign on to the postal department, break it down, and turn off the postal register.
Count daily coupons and process customer refunds and department-approved refunds.
Sign on and off lottery machines, and sell and redeem lottery tickets.
Assist customers with dry cleaning where applicable and process bottle refunds.
Assist customers at registers and in other store areas as needed.
Answer the telephone and use the intercom system according to appropriate procedures.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Work with co-workers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
