About The Position

This role is responsible for processing various customer transactions, including mail, Western Union orders, utility bills, cashing checks, and selling money orders and hunting/fishing licenses. A key aspect of this position is maintaining a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service. The role also involves assisting customers with product location, securing items, loading/unloading, and relaying customer suggestions. Additionally, the position requires answering the phone, working collaboratively with team members, and adhering to all company policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions.
  • Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to file, post, and mail materials.
  • Ability to copy data from one record to another.
  • Ability to interview to obtain basic information.
  • Ability to guide people and provide basic direction.
  • High school or equivalent experience.
  • Over six months up to one year of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to physically perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
  • Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
  • Stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
  • Must be able to work Night & Weekend Shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Processing mail, Western Union orders, and utility bills.
  • Cashing checks and selling money orders.
  • Collecting dry cleaning orders for customers.
  • Maintaining a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service.
  • Learning customer names and addressing them by name whenever possible.
  • Assisting customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading, and noting suggestions.
  • Answering the telephone promptly and providing friendly, helpful service.
  • Working with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Weighing postal packages, processing certified, express, UPS, registered, and insured mail.
  • Selling hunting and fishing licenses.
  • Breaking down and putting money in utility drawers.
  • Signing on/off postal department registers and turning them off.
  • Processing paid outs.
  • Sending faxes for customers.
  • Counting the days’ coupons.
  • Processing refunds for customers and department approved refunds.
  • Answering the store telephone using appropriate techniques.
  • Utilizing the intercom system for paging.
  • Removing trash in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
  • Adhering to company policies and individual store guidelines.
  • Reporting to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Signing on and off lottery machines.
  • Assisting customers with dry cleaning where applicable.
  • Assisting customers at the registers where necessary.
  • Selling and redeeming lottery tickets.
  • Processing bottle refunds.
  • Assisting in other areas of store as needed.
  • Performing other job related duties and special projects as required.
