About The Position

Responsible for advanced clerical work, which includes operation of a personal computer, and public contact work in providing information regarding a variety of County operations. Provides a professional and courteous response via telephone, in person, in writing and on-line. Work schedule will change with the departments needs which may include weekends as regular shift work.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of standard office methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of County departments, operations and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to meet and deal with people effectively.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and related software.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to learn the procedures and operations of the unit to which assigned.
  • Ability to type accurately on a personal computer.
  • Ability to communicate with others in person, via telephone, in writing and on-line.
  • Ability to read for comprehension.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
  • Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • One (1) year of experience in customer service duties involving frequent public contact.
  • Experience in the operation of a personal computer required.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service functions in support to the Animal Services – Pet Services team.
  • Answers telephone calls and directs them accordingly.
  • Types letters, reports, forms, and correspondence.
  • Maintains records and reports on a personal computer.
  • Performs data retrieval and entry into a software application.
  • Performs other clerical functions as needed such as processing mail, filing and scanning.
  • Performs related work as required.
