About The Position

Morgan Distributing Inc. ("MDI") is a third-generation, family-owned motor fluid distributor seeking a Gas, Diesel and Propane Customer Service Representative for its Decatur, IL location. Founded in 1954, MDI distributes high-quality motor oils, industrial lubricants, metalworking fluids, gas, diesel, propane, and specialty fluids across various markets including automotive, trucking, heavy-duty, agriculture, construction, mining, power generation, and industrial. The company utilizes industry-leading technology and provides energy savings analysis and sustainable maintenance programs. MDI is headquartered in Decatur, Illinois, with additional locations in Fairfield, Illinois, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Valparaiso, Indiana.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Proficiency in Computer skills: Word, Excel, Internet
  • Highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated passion for excellence with respect to treating and caring for customers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle complaints and unpleasant customers ('thick skin').

  • Willingness to work occasional approved overtime when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in customer service or help desk capacity
  • Some experience with multiline phone systems and computers
  • Experience with Google, Microsoft Office and Adobe

Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews orders submitted by clients for gas/diesel/propane products.
  • Edits orders for pricing, delivery, and shipping needs.
  • Provides customers with quotes for unit prices, shipping dates, anticipated delays, and other necessary information.
  • Answers customer questions regarding product pricing, availability, and delivery options, referring technical questions to the Gas/Diesel/Propane Dispatch Supervisor.
  • Enters orders into delivery software to determine total cost, verify pricing against assigned customer structures, check product availability, and confirm delivery feasibility.
  • Reports product, shipping, delivery, order, and inventory issues that may affect customer satisfaction to the Gas/Diesel/Propane Dispatch Supervisor.
  • Reports all account changes to the Gas/Diesel/Propane Dispatch Supervisor.
  • Enters Gas, Diesel, and Propane Inventory.
  • Completes end-of-month requirements such as invoicing, corrections, and inventory needs by the second business day of the new month.
  • Creates reports for pricing, product usage, and evaluation as needed.
  • Ensures price changes are implemented as they are provided by the Gas/Diesel/Propane Dispatch Supervisor.
