About The Position

Customer Service Representative - Stony Brook Children’s Service, UFPC. This position is responsible for accurately and efficiently answering and scheduling patient appointments. It requires a high-level problem-solving and analytical skills with the highest ethical standards. The incumbent must be self-directed and self-motivated and able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high level of productivity and accuracy. The role involves high volume appointment scheduling and phone calls, obtaining, verifying, and inputting all information accurately into the scheduling system, conducting insurance verification, and providing customer service to patients. The employee must demonstrate courteous and professional behavior, resolve patient inquiries or escalate for solution, and route calls to proper departments. All other duties as assigned by management will also be performed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Excellent typing skills and friendly telephone etiquette.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of clerical experience.
  • Experience working in physician practice.
  • Experience in a call center.
  • Experience with an appointment scheduling system.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • High volume appointment scheduling and phone calls.
  • Schedule appointments following protocols.
  • Obtain, verify and input all information accurately into scheduling system.
  • Conduct insurance verification.
  • Provide customer service to patients.
  • Demonstrate courteous and professional behavior when dealing with patients.
  • Resolve patient inquiries or escalate for solution.
  • Routing calls to proper departments.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
