About The Position

Under the supervision of the City Clerk, this Part Time Customer Service Representative role provides quality customer service as the initial liaison at City Hall between customers and City departments. The position involves approximately 20-24 hours per week and requires excellent customer service skills, knowledge of City services, and the ability to direct visitors, handle inquiries via phone, email, and mail, and assist with various projects and election support.

Requirements

  • Provides excellent customer service to City residents and visitors at City Hall, by being knowledgeable about City services, advising residents about departmental information, and informing residents of current programs and services.
  • Directs City Hall visitors to correct department or meeting location.
  • Addresses customer service needs received via phone, email, and mail; transfers calls as needed or takes pertinent information for staff who are not available.
  • Serves as resource for all departments at City Hall by taking on projects as assigned.
  • Updates and posts notices as required; removes notices in a timely manner both in paper form and digitally.
  • Monitors safety of entrance areas and alerts custodial staff of issues.
  • Maintains approved brochures and makes available requested departmental information.
  • Assists Clerk’s office with general election support throughout the year, including work in the online Michigan Qualified Voting system, and Election Day support, which may include evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
