About The Position

Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery of New Mexico, part of Animal Outpatient Specialty Network, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant with shared Client Service responsibilities to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a veterinary hospital and a strong commitment to client service and patient care. They are a multi-doctor, AAHA-accredited referral specialty practice dedicated to treating dogs and cats in Albuquerque. Their hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Because of their unique specialty, they frequently volunteer their services to zoos and sanctuaries throughout New Mexico and beyond. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have experience working in the public (i.e., restaurant, retail, or service business).
• Dependable attendance is required.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• The ability to walk, bend, squat, stand, or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a veterinary hospital or doctor’s office is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome clients and manage appointments.
• Prepare clients for exam room consultations.
• Assist doctors during examinations.
• Review treatment plans with clients.
• Process invoices and collect payments.
• Restrain patients for IV catheter placement and venipunctures.
• Assist doctors during surgery as needed.
• Prepare discharge instructions for clients.
• Maintain a clean and organized hospital environment, including surgical equipment and instruments, kennels, treatment areas, lobby, laundry, and restrooms.
