Primary Purpose: Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Diploma / GED 1 + yrs of cash handling experience 1 + yrs of clerical work, preferably in municipal accounts receivable Valid Texas Driver License with acceptable driving record Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to perform recordkeeping tasks. Ability to multitask and prioritize workload appropriately. Ability to accurately count and balance large amounts of money. Must be responsible, reliable and prompt. Must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and the public. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of Word and Excel programs Major Responsibilities and Duties: Essential Duties Collect and key in utility payments and give correct change to customers; Responsible for reconciling (startup and ending balance) of cash register/till; Answers telephones and assists customers with questions and/or concerns regarding their water, wastewater, and solid waste accounts; Adjustments on accounts after review and approval from supervisor; Refer complaints to appropriate department; Responsible for keeping your work station in a safe and clean condition; Determines charges for service requests, collects deposits, prepare change of address records and issue discontinuance orders, collects for water taps; Performs other clerical related duties and fulfills responsibilities as assigned; Prepare monthly printing, sorting, and mailing of utility bills; Completes service request forms for new or final utility services; Regularly balance and key in mail and drop box payments; Balance and batch payments several times during the day and submit end of day receipt reports Makes deposits at bank Supervisory Responsibilities: None Working Conditions: Tools/Equipment Used: Cash register, change box, calculator, computer, deposit bags, copier, fax, telephone. Posture: Prolonged standing, sitting, balancing, kneeling, stooping, bending, stretching and reaching. Motion: Frequent sitting to standing, frequent wrist and elbow flexion, fingertip gripping and flexion, repetitive hand movements. Lifting: Frequent light to moderate lifting; occasional heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs.) with assistance. Environment: Indoor regulated temperatures, bright sunlight, artificial light, occasional outdoor exposure. Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under pressure; work with frequent interruption; may be subject to adverse confrontations; ability to assess workload and properly prioritize duties; ability to be cognizant of your surroundings while concentrating on your duties at your workstation. This position is subject to weekends and after-hours.
