About The Position

This role is responsible for processing tax-related transactions and providing customer service to the general public. The position involves handling property tax transactions, resolving public inquiries, preparing financial deposits, issuing tax certificates, processing mail and walk-in renewals, and serving as a point of contact for mortgage companies. The specialist will also research and process returned mail, update the Williamson Central Appraisal District, process ownership changes, produce invoices, and maintain historical records. Additionally, the role includes taking phone calls during high volume and for escalated issues, assisting with tax exemptions for seniors and disabled individuals, and performing registration renewals during peak customer traffic. The position requires attending all meetings and training and performing special duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in customer service and cash handling in a fast-paced environment
  • Two (2) years of basic computer navigation experience
  • Criminal background check
  • Typing, Math and Excel Skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • One (1) year of property tax and/or motor vehicle experience
  • One (1) year of call center or information services experience

Responsibilities

  • Processes property tax transactions and general customer service
  • Resolves inquiries from the public regarding property tax matters
  • Prepares daily cash, credit card, and check deposits in compliance with cash handling processes and procedures
  • Prepares and issues tax certificates
  • Processes mail and walk-in motor vehicle registration renewals
  • Processes and prepares mail to scan to the remittance processor
  • Serves as a point of contact for mortgage companies requesting tax statements and prepares necessary information to be sent for further processing
  • Researches and processes returned mail including updating the Williamson Central Appraisal District of new information
  • Processes ownership changes and produces invoices when necessary
  • Maintain historical records using records retention guidelines
  • Take phone calls during high call volume and for escalated issues
  • Assists with over sixty-five (65) and disability tax exemptions
  • Performs registration renewals during high customer traffic
  • Attends all meetings and training, as required
  • Performs special duties as assigned
