Customer Service Representative - Patient Registration
About The Position
Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola is seeking a Customer Service Representative for Patient Registration. This is a PRN (part-time, as needed) position requiring open availability for shifts. R1, a leading provider of technology-driven solutions for hospitals and health systems, is hiring for this role. R1 combines global expertise in revenue cycle management with an advanced technology platform, including analytics, AI, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration, to transform the patient experience and financial performance. As a Customer Service Representative in Patient Registration, you will be the first point of contact for patients checking into the hospital, guiding them through the registration process, answering questions with confidence and compassion, and gathering accurate information in a fast-paced environment. The role is designed to build trust with patients during potentially stressful times. No prior healthcare background is required, as comprehensive training will be provided, making this role an excellent starting point for a career in healthcare.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong customer service experience
- Ability to pass background check, drug test, and meet vaccination requirements

Responsibilities
- Help patients navigate the registration process
- Answer questions with confidence, clarity, and compassion
- Gather accurate information quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Build trust with patients during moments when they may be scared, confused, or overwhelmed
- Work across multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
- Answer phones and gather information quickly and accurately
- Assist patients who may be ill, anxious, or confused
- Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details (with training!)
- Adapt to interruptions from clinical teams during urgent care situations
- Build rapport and ease patient concerns in real time
