About The Position

R1 is a leading provider of technology-driven solutions that transform the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems and medical groups. As a Customer Service Representative in Patient Registration, you will be the primary point of contact for patients checking into the hospital. This role is crucial for building trust by accurately and quickly collecting information, while also listening with compassion to address patient fears, concerns, and questions. It is a fast-paced environment that occasionally requires multitasking, quick learning with technology, and proficiency in typing and answering phones. No prior healthcare experience or knowledge is required, as comprehensive training will be provided, making this an ideal entry point to launch a healthcare career. Given it's a hospital/lab environment, you should be prepared to encounter illness and injuries. The role involves working on computers and phones to intake information, navigating multiple screens to input details correctly between physician and nurse check-ins, and typing quickly. You will also need to be comfortable working around clinicians who may interrupt the registration process for emergent clinical care. Beyond data collection, the position emphasizes helping ill or worried patients by listening carefully, asking follow-up questions, and building rapport in real time. This is not a casual desk job; it often requires being on your feet assisting patients and adapting to unexpected situations, despite the predictable nature of data collection. The team is supportive of career goals, viewing this as the first step in a healthcare career at R1 RCM Inc.
