About The Position

As a Patient Registration - Customer Service Representative, you will help patients check into the hospital. This role can be fast-paced, and you will be the person patients rely on to answer questions during registration. You will build trust by collecting information accurately and quickly, and by listening with compassion to address their fears, concerns, and questions. To succeed, you need to be a confident multi-tasker, a quick study with technology, and capable of typing and answering phones. No previous healthcare experience or knowledge is required, making this an ideal starting point for a healthcare career. Since this is a hospital/lab environment, you must be prepared to encounter illness and injuries. Comprehensive training will be provided. Prior to hire, you must be up to date on all vaccinations, pass a drug test, and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Work on computers and answer phones to intake information in a busy environment
  • Work across multiple screens, collecting and accurately inputting details between physician and nurse check-ins
  • Work comfortably across multiple programs and type as quickly as patients can talk
  • Work around clinicians who may interrupt the registration process for emergent clinical care
  • Help people who may be very ill or worried by listening carefully to ease their anxiety
  • Ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real time
  • Assist patients in completing their registration, often while on your feet
  • Acquire knowledge through training regarding the variations in health plans and coverage
  • Work quickly and expect the unexpected
