About The Position

As a Customer Service Representative, Transaction Services, you complete transactions and provide quality service to our individual and business customers. This role is within Service Nova Scotia, a department that impacts every citizen, business, and municipality in Nova Scotia. The department's mandate is to design and deliver programs and services to meet client needs and the public good through a culture of excellence. Requirements

  • A minimum of four years of experience in a fast-paced, front line customer service environment.
  • Experience in balancing accounts.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent judgment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to diplomatically deal with the general public and to effectively manage difficult client engagements.
  • Strong data entry and computer skills.
  • A high aptitude to acquire, retain, organize and apply policies and procedures.
  • Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Service Nova Scotia programs.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
  • Ability to scrutinize and reconcile financial information and to detect and resolve discrepancies.
  • Experience in cash handling.

Responsibilities

  • Scrutinize records, process documents, and apply relevant legislation and policy.
  • Issue primary identity documents such as Driver’s Licenses and Nova Scotia Identification cards.
  • Maintain security and control of public funds.
  • Issue and secure control of serial numbered and non-serial numbered inventory.
  • Accurately enter and retrieve data from automated systems while exercising a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Interact with the general public, providing excellent customer service.
