About The Position

This position involves customer service duties at the Millville Store. The trainee will learn to process register transactions, handle money, manage a cash drawer, and engage customers to encourage Round-Up donations. Responsibilities include maintaining store appearance, stocking merchandise, and assisting with opening/closing procedures. The role also provides cross-training as a Donation-Utility Associate and Barcoder to support employee growth and company productivity. The trainee will learn to establish prices for merchandise and utilize store systems, including phones and paging systems. Maintaining a clean interior and exterior of the store is also a key part of the role, along with personal appearance and adherence to company policies and uniform requirements. Regular attendance and performance of other essential duties as assigned are required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Goodwill policies and safety procedures.
  • Possess professional etiquette.
  • Successfully process register transactions, handle money, and count down a drawer.
  • Ask every customer for a Round-Up donation and achieve a 40% Round-Up transaction average monthly.
  • Engage customers using specific steps: greet from 5 feet, focus on the customer, maintain a clean store, use 'Walk, Talk, and Show' techniques, thank customers, listen and respond to concerns, engage at the register, and manage the register line.
  • Use good phone etiquette and answer within 3 rings.
  • Provide short, clear, timely announcements.
  • Receive cross-training as Donation-Utility Associate and Barcoder.
  • Train to complete opening and closing procedures.
  • Stock and maintain the sales floor with newly processed merchandise.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sales floor by recovering standards through sizing merchandise and organizing wares and furniture.
  • Maintain sales floor by recovering sales floor and dressing rooms.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods via merchandise type, markings, or by asking for assistance.
  • Utilize systems, including phones and paging systems, and make regularly scheduled announcements.
  • Maintain interior and exterior of store in a neat, clean, and orderly manner (includes vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, washing windows, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance at all times.
  • Wear company-issued uniform.
  • Attend regularly.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
