About The Position

The Customer Service Associate assists customers and supports store operations to provide a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities include answering questions and making recommendations, processing sales at an assigned cash register, safeguarding cash and company assets, stocking and recovering merchandise, receiving deliveries, and helping unload trucks and replenish stock. The associate also helps maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment through professional, friendly interactions and keeps the store clean and presentable, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, and taking out trash. Other duties may be assigned. The position is part time at Family Dollar’s location at 1723 Main Street, Peekskill, New York 10566.

Requirements

Ability to follow instructions and interpret operational documents.
Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous customer service experience in a retail, hotel, restaurant, grocery, or drug store environment highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist customers with questions and recommendations.
Manage sales transactions at an assigned cash register.
Maintain cash security and protect company assets.
Keep the store stocked and recover merchandise.
Receive merchandise, help unload trucks, and replenish stock in accordance with productivity standards.
Help ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment through professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
