About The Position

The Customer Quality Engineer will serve as the primary point of contact for Quality matters with various 3M customers in the Chennai region. This role involves close collaboration with customers to understand their current, future, and potential Quality requirements and concerns. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams (CFT) to drive resolutions, including corrective, preventive, and improvement actions. This position is crucial for ensuring the timely resolution of customer concerns and preventing disruptions to assembly operations. Additionally, the role will proactively capture customer feedback from Final Assembly and Test Plant (FATP) locations, enhance customer engagement, and continuously support improvements in the overall customer quality experience. The engineer will also collaborate with local and global teams to ensure timely resolution of quality issues and work towards achieving a zero-defect target.

  • Working closely with global technical and quality teams.
  • Driving projects for customer Quality targets.
  • Participating in project planning.
  • Assisting in establishing project objectives and priorities.
  • Maintaining an awareness of Quality.
  • Working with regional Technical & sales teams.
  • Leading customer meetings on Quality complaints/improvement.
  • Working on necessary quality documentation.
  • Contribution to a strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) culture by following safety policies, identifying hazards, and engaging in continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Handling customer complaints.
  • Deployment of containment action to avoid line issues/ stoppage.
  • Driving permanent corrective & preventive action in co-ordination with technical & plant teams.
  • Ensure on time Closure of CAPA on customer portals.
  • Negotiation & convincing customer in case of a concern at customer end where there is no quality issue from 3M product.
  • Regularly visits customers to keep up the Quality rhythm.
  • Participation in trials at customer line for New Products and preventing Quality concerns.
  • Provide inputs to CFT & manufacturing plant on new products/ customer complaints based on observations at customer end for necessary corrective / preventive actions.
  • Works closely with global technical and quality teams.
  • Drive projects for achieving customer Quality targets to achieve zero defect.
  • Participates in project planning.
  • Assists in establishing project objectives and priorities.
  • Maintains an awareness of Quality and works with the regional Technical & sales teams.
  • Leads customer meetings on Quality complaints/improvement.
  • Work on necessary quality documentation.
