About The Position

The Customer Product Development Engineer joins Intel’s Customer Engineering organization within Manufacturing Development and Customer Engineering (MDCE), supporting Intel’s transition from IDM to Foundry. The team works with foundry customers to provide technology integration and manufacturing support, improve yield and performance in high-volume manufacturing, and deliver silicon solutions that meet Intel PDK specifications and customer requirements. The role works closely with internal technology-development, manufacturing, test, product, and customer teams across technology and product life cycles. Engineers may specialize in device, integration, or yield engineering, or combine expertise across those areas. They analyze manufacturing and product data, identify yield and performance improvement opportunities, guide complex investigations and cross-functional problem solving, and communicate technical findings and updates to customers and stakeholders. The position is based in Phoenix, Arizona, with an additional location in Hillsboro, Oregon, and is eligible for Intel’s hybrid work model. It is an experienced-hire role on Shift 1.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science or engineering discipline.
  • At least 4 years of semiconductor-industry experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in one or more of the following: hands-on analytical work involving data querying, cleaning, sanity checks, preparation, statistical analysis, visualization, modeling, and drawing conclusions; semiconductor wafer-fab or manufacturing work using device and yield-analysis methods and tools; or knowledge of process impacts on devices and interactions among device, process, integration, test, product, and yield performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, self-learning capability, and ability to work autonomously and take ownership of complex problems.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and turn broad or unclear problem statements into structured, actionable work.
  • Ability to work effectively across multifunctional and multicultural teams and organizations.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to identify patterns, abstract key learnings, and systematize and share best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to varied audiences.
  • Strong analytical mindset and demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional projects to completion.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. with at least 3 years of relevant experience in 300 mm startup and ramp of advanced logic process technologies.
  • Experience across an entire foundry technology cycle.
  • Experience in yield analysis (LYA), device engineering, integration, process engineering, process control, materials analysis, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated success leading task forces, continuous-improvement efforts, or cross-functional device and yield-improvement projects.
  • Understanding of test programs, products, process flows, foundry customer requirements, and technology-development cycles.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor analysis tools such as JMP, JVS, Genome, TRACE, AQUA, CB, and WIJT.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver silicon manufacturing solutions that meet Intel PDK specifications and customer-specific requirements.
  • Partner with technology-development teams to ensure device and yield performance meet development milestones and customer manufacturing goals.
  • Conduct baseline and ongoing data analysis across test sockets, devices, products, and fab processes to identify performance and yield-improvement opportunities.
  • Identify test-condition, device, integration, and fab-process opportunities that can improve Unit-to-Wafer yield and manufacturing performance.
  • Develop data-driven models, physical interpretations, and yield predictions to support technology roadmaps and customer manufacturing objectives.
  • Support yield-improvement projects, device issues, excursions, investigations, and containment activities with customers and internal teams.
  • Define problem statements through data mining, identify patterns, draw conclusions, and communicate findings to technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Guide subject-matter-expert teams in systematically resolving complex device and yield problems while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee change management and provide timely, clear technical reports and updates to customers.
  • Support customers during early project phases and throughout technology development, product introduction, manufacturing ramp, and product life cycles.
  • Help customers use Intel manufacturing capabilities and lead solutions spanning device, yield, process, test, integration, and product domains.
  • Capture key learnings, standardize effective methods, and share best practices across teams, products, customers, and technologies.
