About The Position

Assist in the execution and leadership of advanced engineering activities related to the structural integrity of aero-engine and turbomachinery components. Plan and perform complex structural analyses using conventional hand calculations and computational methods, including analysis of metallic and composite components. Conduct detailed stress, fatigue, and damage-tolerance analyses to support design certification and product reliability. Establish structural requirements and specifications, perform finite element analysis, and evaluate component performance under operational and extreme loading conditions. Coordinate with offshore and global teams to define project scope, analysis domains, boundary conditions, and material models. Work with Design, Aerodynamics, and Structures teams to obtain project inputs, and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams and customers. Prepare and review stress-analysis and compliance reports and technical presentations, interpret results, and present them to customers. The role also involves design modifications and FEA validation, support for field issues and product development, process improvements and automation, preparation of technical proposals and business cases, and responsibility for quality and on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in stress analysis of aero-engine components using commercial finite element analysis tools.
  • Basic knowledge of FEA theory, solid mechanics, machine design, and fatigue.
  • Experience with structural analysis tools, preferably ANSYS Classic, ANSYS Workbench, and HyperMesh.
  • Experience creating 2D and 3D finite element models of simple, moderate, and complex components using hexahedral and tetrahedral elements in ANSYS APDL or Workbench.
  • Experience performing linear and nonlinear static stress analysis, including geometric, material, and contact nonlinearities, using ANSYS APDL or Workbench.
  • Experience performing modal, harmonic, and transient dynamic stress analysis using ANSYS APDL or Workbench.
  • Knowledge of component strength, stability, and durability analysis.
  • Experience with damage-tolerance analysis to estimate fracture life.
  • Ability to develop or modify APDL macros.
  • Ability to build or update FE models in HyperMesh.
  • Strong technical, project-management, interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritize multiple projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Scripting experience with MATLAB, VB, TCL/Tk, or Python.
  • Knowledge of hand calculations, standards, and design codes.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD tools.
