About The Position

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world. The company designs, builds, and services cutting-edge equipment that helps customers manufacture display and semiconductor chips, which are the brains of devices used daily. As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer), this role serves as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. The position involves using digital analytics for troubleshooting and applying basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems, as well as coordinating and communicating directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Associate degree or comparable military technical training and field service experience
  • 7-10 years of work experience in semiconductor industry or other equipment support industry
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and/or thermodynamics
  • Strong knowledge of hand tools and their appropriate usage, including digital multimeters
  • Advanced knowledge of wafer processing parameters
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport, if travel is required.
  • Able to meet all on-site requirements, including safety, environmental guidelines, and COVID-19 protocols

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment
  • Apply troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, as well as company diagnostic tools and documentation, to solve complex equipment issues
  • Follow and generate documented procedures and published task plans
  • Communicate with customers and internal business units, lead projects as necessary
  • Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers [Customer Engineers]
  • Fulfill additional duties, as assigned
