About The Position

The Customer Care Technical Leader supports GE’s install base of HVDC & FACTS systems, with a focus on Synchronous Condensers. This role is responsible for leading the technical portion of multi-year service contracts and warranties. The selected candidate will develop and maintain expertise in the operation and maintenance of HVDC & FACTS devices, leveraging GE’s know-how and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical engineering
  • Knowledge of rotating machines (generators or synchronous condensers)
  • Experience in maintenance and commissioning activity of high voltage equipment
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and French: The employee will be required to interact fluidly with colleagues in our other facilities across and/or outside of Canada, and who are generally unable to communicate in French and whose language at work is predominantly English.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to document, write technical reports and plan site activities.
  • Knowledge in the controls and protection of HV equipment and substation
  • 5 to 10 years of meaningful experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical portion on multi-year service contracts and warranties
  • Respond actively to system issues in a timely manner and promotes high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining open communications and providing pro-active attention to customer requirements
  • Maintains system logs on all failure data across Synchronous Condenser projects
  • Analyzes systems maloperation and equipment failure by reviewing event logs and transient records, and providing solutions to site issues
  • Develop, perform and analyze maintenance programs and testing procedures to maximize Synchronous Condenser installations availability, reliability and performance
  • Support site team during commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting activities on Synchronous Condenser systems by review of site plans and providing technical inputs during site visits
  • Occasionally perform field work, ie. commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of Synchronous Condenser systems
  • Review site reports from commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting activities on Synchronous Condenser systems
  • Provide technical support to Tendering team in procurement of FACTS devices and equipment
