About The Position

The mission of the GTM & Customer team at Shiftsmart is to build the foundations and infrastructure to continue scaling the revenue side of our business and define how we work with our strategic enterprise customers, including some of the world’s most recognized brands and retailers. This role is responsible for growing customer relationships and building the systems, processes, and infrastructure that enable high-quality, reliable customer operations at scale. This particular role will focus on supporting the customer team to close commercial deals, enabling a faster pace of engagement with prospective customers, and flex across a wide range of commercial activities including customer pitch materials, B2B marketing activities, and more. This role is an opportunity to “go all in” on building a rapidly scaling business, directly enabling the scale of our success and becoming an owner becoming an expert on customer and commercial strategy and shaping the market-facing and operational decisions that determine the scale of our success. You’ll do this alongside a collaborative team that is committed to your growth, hungry for your perspective, and excited to make a real difference together. This role is based in New York City (HQ) with typically 3+ days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • 2-4+ years of experience in consulting, banking, strategy & operations, business operations, or another fast-paced role, ideally in a startup.
  • High ownership: When you take something on, you drive it to completion and you naturally think about what needs to happen next and take action before being asked.
  • Strong communicator: You’re an excellent writer and can turn complex information into clear, concise communication.
  • Highly proficient in Slides/PowerPoint and can take rough ideas, data, and notes and turn them into polished, customer-ready materials.
  • Good judgment around what information matters and how to tell a compelling story.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: The role will change based on what the commercial team needs. One week you may be building a customer deck, the next you may be researching a prospect, preparing for a conference, or helping produce a video. You see this variety as an opportunity to learn rather than needing a narrowly defined job description.

Responsibilities

  • Help move prospective customer opportunities forward from initial research through active deal execution. You’ll research prospects, identify relevant business problems and opportunities, develop a point of view, and turn that thinking into customer-ready materials that help advance conversations.
  • Own the first draft of decks, demos, proposals, and stakeholder-specific materials across active opportunities. You’ll take direction from the commercial team and turn rough inputs into high-quality, customer-ready work quickly, enabling the team to run more opportunities in parallel without sacrificing quality.
  • Prepare research memos ahead of meetings with new prospects and stakeholders, giving the team the context and perspective needed to enter conversations prepared. You’ll develop an understanding of each customer’s business, priorities, and potential use cases and translate that research into actionable commercial insights.
  • Create and improve systems that help the Customer team manage a growing commercial pipeline. You’ll help bring visibility to every open thread, from inbound opportunities and existing customer expansion to high-potential prospects, so the team always knows what is happening, what comes next, and where attention is needed.
  • Build a library of reusable customer content, case studies, messaging, and other commercial materials so that new requests can be addressed in hours rather than days. You’ll continuously identify opportunities to automate and improve how we create and manage commercial content.
  • Flex across the broader commercial function, including conferences, website updates, video production, and other marketing initiatives. You’ll help execute these projects end-to-end while looking for new ways to strengthen Shiftsmart’s market presence and generate commercial opportunities.
