About The Position

Billy Reid is looking to hire a Custom Production Manager who will be the critical link between styling, production, and factory operations while ensuring that custom orders are executed accurately, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role oversees the full lifecycle of order placement and troubleshooting, manages communication with factory partners, and supports quality control by identifying and escalating production issues. In addition, the manager maintains the integrity of product and fabric libraries to ensure the team works with current, accurate information. Through detailed reporting and data analysis—covering sales performance, fabric forecasting, remakes, and alterations—the role drives continuous improvement, reduces errors, and optimizes margins by aligning production outcomes with business goals. The role partners closely with the Director of Custom and the Head of Production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Fashion Merchandising or a related field (Equivalent hands-on experience in a custom apparel or luxury retail environment will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • 1-3 years of experience in an operational, production coordination, or wholesale support role; preferably within custom or made-to-measure apparel
  • Experience working directly with manufacturers or factories, including order management and quality control communication
  • Background in reporting and data analysis, with the ability to identify trends and translate them into actionable insights
  • Familiarity with QC processes and the ability to identify and escalate production issues appropriately
  • Proficiency in order management platforms and custom apparel production systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets — including pivot tables, formulas, and data visualization for reporting purposes
  • Clear and confident communicator: comfortable serving as the main point of contact between internal teams and an external factory
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing or maintaining product libraries, fabric databases, or design code systems is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with fabric mills, bunches and supply chain forecasting tools is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Main contact between BR stylists and the factory for all orders submitted through the platform, order inquiries / issues, and rush + trim requests
  • Identity major QC issues that need to be addressed by BR production team directly with factory
  • Work with the factory to ensure advanced design codes and fabric availabilities are kept up to date and communicated to the BR team
  • Sales by Product Category, Product, Fabric Mill and Fabric Bunch: Identifies top-performing items on a monthly/quarterly/yearly basis
  • Fabric Mill/Bunch Forecasting Report: Uses historical sales data and trends to project future fabric requirements
  • Remake Report: Track remake rates and identify the percentage caused by stylist or factory error, Identify the margin impact
  • Alterations Report: Track alteration rates by stylist and identify the most frequent alterations
