About The Position

Embark on a transformative journey as a Custody Senior Developer – VP. At Barclays, our vision is clear – to redefine the future of banking and help craft innovative solutions. In this role, you will lead the delivery of key components of the Custody technology stack, translating complex business requirements into high-quality, scalable solutions. You will contribute to the design and build of Foundational, Consolidated, and Business Data Products, working on complex technical challenges alongside engineers, business analysts, and senior stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring good analytical capability, technical ownership, and influence across the development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Advanced C#/.NET development with good object-oriented design principles
  • Microsoft SQL Server development, including complex query optimization and performance tuning
  • Production support and troubleshooting within high-volume, mission-critical environments
  • Version control systems such as Git and automated testing practices
  • Modern DevOps and cloud technologies including containerization, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab), and enterprise scheduling tools such as Autosys

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Drive technical excellence, foster a culture of innovation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.

  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.

  • Evaluate and enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
  • Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
  • Enforce technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change.
  • Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/ processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures.
  • Define jobs and responsibilities, planning for the department’s future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes.
  • Lead a number of specialists to influence the operations of a department, in alignment with strategic as well as tactical priorities, while balancing short and long term goals and ensuring that budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
