About The Position

Under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, this position cleans assigned offices, courtrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other County facilities. Responsibilities include mopping, stripping and waxing floors, operating a steam cleaner and vacuum, washing windows, and cleaning walls. This is a second shift position with hours from 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in custodial and building maintenance activities.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License and a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Empties wastebaskets and removes other debris from offices, cleans baskets and changes liners.
  • Removes trash from building and empties paper recycling boxes.
  • Vacuums offices and halls.
  • Operates steam cleaner and performs spot cleaning, bonnet cleaning and extracting on carpeted surfaces.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, baseboards, file cabinets, window ledges and other fixtures.
  • Cleans and disinfects sinks, stools and other fixtures.
  • Cleans and polishes drinking fountains and mirrors.
  • Stocks restrooms with towels, tissue and soap.
  • Mops, strips and waxes floors.
  • Operates buffers to clean and polish floors.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and unplugging fixtures.
  • Cleans walls in offices, hallways and restrooms.
  • Washes windows, both inside and outside.
  • Operates a motor vehicle to deliver supplies (tissue, towels, etc.) to assigned buildings, deliver meals to the youth facility, pick up freight company packages, go to the post office, and make other deliveries.
  • Moves furniture to prepare for carpet cleaning and may help set up rooms for meetings.
  • Sets alarms at the end of the shift.
