About The Position

At New Story Schools, we serve students ages 5–21 with autism and emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Guided by individualized learning, therapeutic integration, and collaboration, we empower students to grow and prepare for meaningful adult lives. Join our team and help students write their new story. As a Part-time Custodian at New Story Schools, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that supports student learning and daily school operations. You will play an important role in ensuring classrooms and shared spaces are well maintained, organized, and ready for students and staff each day.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior custodial or facility cleaning experience preferred
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation procedures, and safe handling of chemicals
• Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums and floor machines
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Ability to lift and move equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs.)
• Reliable, dependable, and able to follow schedules and instructions

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces following safety protocols
• Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and hygiene materials
• Empty trash and recycling and ensure proper waste disposal
• Support room setup and breakdown for meetings and school events
• Respond to spills, urgent cleaning needs, and sanitation requests
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to leadership
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in safe working condition
• Assist with deep cleaning projects and seasonal facility needs
• Complete daily logs and documentation accurately
