About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the appearance and functionality of the store, adhering to organizational and customer standards. Core responsibilities include daily custodial cleaning, routine maintenance work (plumbing, electrical, wall repair, painting, floor maintenance, etc.) and other duties assigned to support the success of the store.

Requirements

• Experience in custodial cleaning environment and routine building maintenance (wall repair, painting, minor plumbing repair, or grounds keeping)
• Training and understanding of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
• Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills
• Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding and consensus
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Knowledge Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel and PowerPoint.
• Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of a Custodian
• Self-motivated; resourceful, creative; high integrity; problem solver; looks to resolve issues; positive can-do approach; and ability to build effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Empties and removes trash and recycling from the interior and exterior of the building.
• Cleans production/donations and loading dock areas.
• Cleans glass doors, mirrors and windows.
• Maintains inventory and restocks supplies and equipment.
• Repairs door hardware, windows, tables, desks, chairs, cabinets, etc.
• Replace interior and exterior light bulbs.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using electric powered janitorial tools such as vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and floor scrubbers.
• Dusts furniture and high areas; polishes furniture and metal fixtures; washes windows; vacuums and spot cleans rugs and floor mats.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and break rooms including sinks, toilet bowls, urinals, stalls, and floors.
• Keeps restrooms supplied with toilet paper, soap, etc.
• Manages the exterior environment of the building by removing gum, trash, cigarette butts, and washing walkways.
• Empties and cleans ash trays and wastebaskets.
