About The Position

Under the supervision of the Sr. School Operations Manager & Handyman/Custodian, the Night Custodian is responsible for maintaining assigned areas of buildings and grounds (including but not limited to Main Classroom Building and Community Center) in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition. This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position.

Requirements

High School degree or GED preferred.
Experience with cleaning materials, such as soap, detergents, and solvents.
Knowledge of methods of cleaning floors, lavatories, and other areas of school buildings.
General grounds maintenance practices.
Experience with machinery and equipment.
Ability to safely use common power and hand tools.
Knowledge of basic carpentry skills.
Attention to detail, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
Self-starter with good time management skills, well organized and apt at problem-solving.

Must clear a LiveScan criminal background check.
Must clear a TB Risk Assessment.
Must complete Mandated Reporter training.

Responsibilities

Sweeping, dusting, and mopping of all floors and baseboards in hallways, lobby, admin office, classrooms, food prep room, and lounge.
Cleaning lint, dust, and wiping down classroom desks and other furniture.
Vacuuming carpets from the library and wiping down furniture within the library.
Cleaning all restrooms and restocking paper and soap supplies.
Removing any graffiti from walls, desks, furniture, etc.
Performing routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
Emptying trash receptacles and bagging trash for proper disposal inside and outside.
Locking doors and turning off lights after cleaning areas.
Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Assisting in loading and unloading of supplies as needed.
Arranging boxes, materials, and other supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
Setting up tables and chairs for various functions and events as required.
Assisting in maintenance of grounds and exterior of the building, e.g., picking up trash in the parking lot.
Assisting maintenance personnel in major repair work.
Opening and securing the building when necessary.
Identifying and reporting potential safety hazards within the school building and grounds.
Following all safety protocols and procedures.
Working regular work hours as needed to accommodate repairs that affect classrooms or other spaces used during the school day.
Performing other duties as assigned.
