About The Position
This is a part-time Custodian position responsible for cleaning school building interiors and facilities, and maintaining school grounds. The role involves a variety of tasks to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the school environment. Specific duties may vary but include general cleaning, grounds maintenance, and reporting facility issues.
Requirements
- Ability to sweep, strip, buff, wax, or dust mop assigned areas
- Ability to clean carpets
- Ability to remove trash from buildings
- Ability to scrub and clean toilets, mirrors, wash basins, urinals, and commodes
- Ability to refill tissue, towel, and soap dispensers
- Ability to dust furniture, walls, windowsills, and woodwork
- Ability to clean windows
- Ability to sanitize and clean drinking fountains
- Ability to mow grass, weed eat, and remove leaves
- Ability to pick up paper and trash
- Ability to check fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and exit lights
- Ability to replace bulbs in light fixtures
- Ability to haul books and paper with a hand truck
- Ability to move furniture
- Ability to change combination locks
- Ability to clean up spills and sanitize areas following incidents involving bodily injuries
- Ability to report mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. problems
- Ability to assist with snow removal and ice control

Responsibilities

- Opening and securing the building
- Sweeping, stripping, buffing, waxing, or dust mopping assigned areas
- Cleaning carpets
- Removing trash from buildings
- Scrubbing and cleaning toilets, mirrors, wash basins, urinals, and commodes
- Refilling tissue, towel, and soap dispensers
- Dusting furniture, walls, windowsills, and woodwork
- Cleaning windows
- Sanitizing and cleaning drinking fountains
- Mowing grass, weed eating, and removing leaves
- Picking up paper and trash from grounds
- Checking fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and exit lights regularly
- Replacing bulbs in light fixtures
- Hauling books and paper with a hand truck
- Moving furniture
- Changing combination locks
- Cleaning up spills and sanitizing areas after incidents involving bodily injuries
- Reporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or other facility problems to the Head Custodian or principal
- Assisting with snow removal and ice control
- Performing related tasks as required
