As the Custodian, you will perform special cleaning projects as well as daily cleaning duties in accordance with the standard procedures of the housekeeping department and with hospital objectives. Operate cleaning equipment, including automatic floor machines, commercial vacuums, wet mops, large wringers and other necessary equipment, tools, chemicals and supplies. Tasks may include but are not limited to dry and wet mop floors, scrub and buff floors with rotor and other machines, vacuum carpets to clean and control bacteria, transport and dispose of trash, perform special cleaning of induction units, walls, lighting fixtures, and windows, both inside and outside, move furniture and set up meeting rooms. Collect soiled linen, assist in cleaning emergency spills that are observed or as requested, maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and request repairs when needed, report need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent. 2 to 4 years of experience in the industry is preferred. Consideration will be given to relevant professional experience commensurate with assignment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Candidate may (at times) supervise the work of a crew of local nationals as they perform the cleaning duties. At times, the candidate will perform all of the cleaning duties. Below is a list of additional duties the candidate will perform. Plan work schedules to ensure adequate service. Inspect and evaluate physical condition of establishment. Submit recommendations to management for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space. Periodically inventory supplies and equipment. Investigate new and improved cleaning instruments and methods. Other duties may be assigned.
