About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and caring for the building and grounds, including classrooms, common areas, and play fields. The position monitors and performs required inspections of building systems and promotes positive community relations among community members and school clientele. The role supports facility operations, custodial personnel, emergency operations, sustainability policies, and the safe and efficient upkeep of the facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Frequent lifting of 5 to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of 50 to 100 pounds.
• Frequent extensive walking, bending, standing, reaching, and stooping.
• Occasional climbing, kneeling, and squatting.

Responsibilities

• Use and train others in the effective use of cleaning and restorative materials as required.
• Coordinate and perform event setups and teardowns in a timely manner to support stakeholder satisfaction.
• Remove snow and ice from walkways, entries, and play areas as required to promote public safety.
• Perform maintenance, cleaning, and setup requests within custodial responsibilities generated by building staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Maintain the cleanliness, maintenance, and sanitation of the facility, grounds, and equipment while upholding safety and efficiency standards.
• Support scheduling of custodial personnel and assigned contact services, coordinating with the Group Leader and Building Administrator.
• Use positive techniques to supervise and evaluate assigned personnel.
• Support District sustainability policies.
• Maintain working knowledge of facility operations, including electrical and gas/water controls, HVAC systems, and related equipment.
• Assist emergency operations personnel as required.
• Ensure building, grounds, and equipment inspections are completed weekly or as assigned.
