About The Position

Perform a variety of skilled labor duties associated with custodial work throughout Arapahoe County facilities. Work is of a changing nature and requires initiative to handle different situations. The position is based at 14980 E. Alameda Dr., Aurora, Colorado. The primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM. The anticipated pay range is $21–$22 per hour; the listed salary range is $19.62–$29.41 per hour. Previous custodial experience will be considered. This is an essential position, and incumbents must be available for winter storms and other emergency events, including evenings, holidays, and weekends. Some weekend work may be required based on business needs, and work locations and facilities may change based on business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Commissioners, Directors, Facilities and Fleet Management leadership, team members, tenants, and vendors.
• Ability to read at a standard high school level to understand warning labels and written instructions.
• Knowledge of and ability to follow safety rules, regulations, and practices.
• Familiarity and knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices and ability to operate mechanized cleaning equipment.
• Adaptability to change and ability to support directives from leadership.
• Must pass pre-employment testing, including an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), background check, and drug screen.
• Possess a valid Class R Colorado Driver’s License or be able to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
• Must undergo fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check.
• Must be available for winter storms and other emergency events, including evenings, holidays, and weekends; the primary schedule includes night work and some weekends may be required.

Nice To Haves

• One year of prior custodial experience performing duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing, and general cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean Arapahoe County facilities, including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
• Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures and replenish restroom supplies.
• Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
• Empty, clean, and sanitize centralized waste receptacles; remove debris and assist with outside trash bins and debris.
• Wash windows, mirrors, and walls.
• Respond to on-site inquiries from building occupants and staff and help resolve custodial service requests.
• Organize and prioritize tasks and adapt to changing job priorities and conditions.
• Follow safety rules, regulations, and practices and perform assigned physical tasks.
• Complete bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System (CJIS) training after employment.
