CUSTODIAN
About The Position
The Custodian cleans and maintains office work areas and washrooms in an orderly condition. Duties include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing trash and refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, and fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms. The role also involves monitoring and replenishing cleaning supplies and paper products in assigned work areas, following instructions for chemical and supply use, moving furniture and equipment as needed, and following established safety and Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures. The Custodian completes related assignments as needed to support the organization's mission.
Requirements
- Able to take and follow directions.
- Able to identify and understand chemicals.
- Knowledge of custodial equipment.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, bathrooms, and offices using established practices and procedures.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers; and refill restroom dispensers.
- Follow directions for using chemicals and supplies and use them as directed.
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools on an incidental basis.
- Wash accessible interior and exterior windows.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and paper products for assigned work areas and replenish them when needed.
- Understand and demonstrate proper safety practices and ensure department standards are maintained.
- Follow established company policies and procedures for Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
- Complete related assignments as needed.
